We are proud to announce that Kara Webb, RN, Assisted Living Director, has been named the recipient of the LeadingAge Iowa Excellence in Leadership Award—an honor that recognizes outstanding leadership, dedication, and impact in the field of senior living.
A Journey of Dedication and Growth
Kara’s journey is a powerful example of commitment, perseverance, and servant leadership. She began her career with our organization as a Licensed Practical Nurse, working overnight shifts in the nursing facility while raising her family as a single mother. When assisted living services were introduced nearly 15 years ago, Kara stepped forward to be part of this new model of care, quickly distinguishing herself through her clinical expertise, professionalism, and natural leadership.
Encouraged to continue her growth, Kara earned her Registered Nurse degree while working full time and caring for her family. In 2013, she was appointed Assisted Living Director—a role she has carried out with integrity and excellence for more than a decade.
Leading with Excellence
Under Kara’s leadership, our assisted living community has achieved an extraordinary milestone: 15 consecutive years of deficiency-free DIA/DIAL surveys, along with zero complaint investigations. This rare accomplishment reflects not only regulatory excellence, but also the trust, satisfaction, and quality of life experienced by tenants and their families.
During her tenure, the community has also received numerous honors, including the LeadingEdge Care and Service Award and the Crawford County Chamber & Development Innovators Award.
Leading by Example
While these achievements are remarkable, Kara’s impact is most evident in her day-to-day leadership. She remains actively involved in every aspect of the community—whether providing hands-on care, supporting staff, or simply spending time with tenants. Her presence fosters a culture of compassion, accountability, and respect.
Kara is also a passionate advocate for person-centered care and tenant rights, consistently ensuring that dignity, safety, and quality of life remain top priorities. She is committed to ongoing professional growth, having completed the LeadingAge Iowa Leadership Academy and earned multiple certifications to better serve her team and community. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she was recognized as a Healthcare Hero for her steady and compassionate leadership.

Equally meaningful is Kara’s ability to mentor and support those around her. She builds strong relationships with her team, creating an environment where employees feel valued, supported, and empowered. This has led to exceptional staff retention and a positive workplace culture that benefits both employees and tenants alike.
