It is with extreme sorrow I report the Eventide Nursing Facility recently lost our first resident due to COVID-19. This is a dangerous virus for individuals with underlying health conditions. The Eventide team is working closing with Crawford County Public Health, Iowa Department of Public Health, as well as local/state/national health providers on best practices to prevent and stop the spread of this invisible virus. We are doing what we can to protect each other and I assure you, it is no easy task nor a task we take lightly. We have adequate PPE. We are adhering to infection control protocol. We are testing residents at least every seven days. We are testing team members twice a week. We are doing contact tracing. It is always our goal to use consistent staffing, and we continue to do so as we are able.
We have adjusted our environment at many levels early on and continue to do so as needed. Since March, anyone with a symptom has not been allowed to work and we continue to follow stringent quarantine and isolation guidance.
What we are seeing in recent weeks in regards to positives:
- Many are testing negative only to test positive a few days later and sometimes, even the very next day.
- Many testing positive have no symptoms and some begin experiencing slight symptoms within the next few days of a positive test.
- Many of our experiences with positives on campus are traced back to events outside the facility.
With this, I’d like to share more details on what we are experiencing and further changes made in regards to COVID-19 in recent weeks in the nursing facility. To explain more, we will be hosting a Zoom Conference Call on 10/9/2020 at 1:00pm CST. Our targeted audience for this is Eventide Nursing facility families and residents as answering any of your questions is our top priority. To these individuals, please contact Christine at email@example.com or 712-263-3114 by 10/7/2020 for conference call access. You may submit any questions to Christine, and we will make sure to address them on the Zoom call.
As I mentioned back on March 25th, the following still holds to be true today. “there are many uncertainties locally and around the world. What I am certain of, however, is the team on the Eventide Campus is doing everything possible to protect this community from what may come our way. With daily protocol changes, the team has united together for one common purpose and have been exemplary. It has not been an easy task, but I want to give reassurance we have fully dedicated our resources to be proactive during this pandemic. We understand things may get worse before they get better but we are keeping our spirits up and thankful for what we do have. As the situations surrounding this pandemic continues to change and evolve, what will not change is our commitment to do everything we can to help ensure the health and safety of everyone in our community. Please continue to practice social distancing and encourage others to do the same. We all have a part to play so please offer positive words of inspiration to each other. Please pray for the guidance and resources needed to take this pandemic head on.”
