COVID-19 Notification 1.22.21

We had a really good week as it relates to COVID-19 and currently have no positive cases in either licensed building. More COVID-19 vaccine clinics are fast approaching. As stated in last week’s post, individuals who received the Moderna vaccine will receive their second dose on January 28th. We have two more Pfizer clinics scheduled for January 30th and February 20th.

The county positivity rate still is over 10% and this affects what we can do operationally on our campus. Crawford County is 5th highest county in Iowa as of this writing. Until the positivity rate drops, nothing can change with visitations in our licensed buildings on campus. Even though many individuals on our campus will soon be fully vaccinated, the guidance we must follow has not changed. You may ask why. Briefly stated, more data is needed. Science is telling us those who get the vaccine will be protected from getting sick from COVID-19, but no clarity if you can still spread the virus to others. We truly need the county positivity rate to drop below 10% to ease visitations restrictions.

On a positive note, we believe as more of the population gets vaccinated, the county positivity rate should decrease. Once a higher percentage of individuals receive the vaccine, perhaps the guidance will then change. In the meantime, encourage others to get vaccinated and to practice what we have been preaching for the past 317 days.
