As reported last Monday, an Eventide staff member was been diagnosed with COVID-19; this staff member did not have direct contact with our residents. As of this morning, we received notification that two additional staff members have been diagnosed with COVID-19. These staff members were asymptomatic while at work. One of the new positive cases did have limited contact with various residents in the nursing facility and the other has not worked for over four weeks. All positive cases experienced illnesses in their respected household. Please note we have no residents with a positive case currently.
Consistent with Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) guidelines, staff members are in self-isolation at home, and will not return to work until they have completed the recommended isolation in accordance with public health guidance. Our healthcare staff continues to work closely with the IDPH and Crawford County Public Health to protect the health of all residents and staff.
Eventide has requested a bulk supply of COVID-19 kits so we can have the ability to test all staff members on campus. The tests will be nasal swab testing for an active case as well as serology testing for antibodies (indicate previous COVID-19 exposure or infection). We do have some nasal swab tests on hand, in addition to working with the medical providers to test residents and team members if they are experiencing symptoms.
We continue to follow public health recommendations to help protect our residents’ and community’s exposure to this virus. Further COVID-19 updates will be given on the facility’s Facebook page at Eventide A Senior Living Community, and our website eventidehome.com. We appreciate your understanding and prayers during this time as we fight an invisible enemy.
