THE BUILDING

Eventide Senior Housing is a three story apartment complex located at 118 S. 20th Street and 1st Avenue South in Denison, Iowa. It is conveniently located next to Eventide Lutheran Home and close to the Crawford County Memorial Hospital. 

There are 35 apartments that consist of 27 one-bedroom units (4 are modified to accommodate handicapped) seven are efficiency units and one suite that has 2 bathrooms and a den. Each apartment has it's own kitchen. A refrigerator, stove/oven, carpeting and drapes are furnished. Other services include laundry facilities (coin operated), central air conditioning, central heating, elevator, fire alarm system, security and emergency call light system. In addition, there is a party room available for family gatherings and special events.

Qualifications for Residency

We are committed to serving the elderly and handicapped population of our area. All of the apartments are subsidized housing through the Department of Housing and Urban Development. This allows a person over the age of 62 or handicapped to enjoy their later years in an apartment of their own. Eventide Senior Housing is an apartment building for the "well" or "independent" elderly or physically handicapped. To meet the basic requirements:

1. The head of the household or spouse must be 62 years of age or older to be considered elderly.
2. Handicapped persons must be 18 years of age or older and must meet the requirements for this special designation. 
3. Tenants must be able to care for themselves.
4. Tenants must qualify for housing assistance program.

Eventide Senior Housing is available to all qualified persons regardless of race, sex, color, religion, creed, national origin political affiliation, or familial status.

Housing Assistance Program

A rent subsidy program is available through the Department of Housing and Urban Development for those who qualify. Those who qualify pay no more than 30% of their annual adjusted income for rent (which includes all utilities except for telephone and cable television. These figures are subject to change.

Programs offered to tenants of Eventide Senior Housing:

1. Lunch and evening meals - 365 days of the year.
2. Transportation to the grocery store once a week.
3. Activities - monthly parties and other social gatherings.
4. Eventide Nursing Home offers church services and other activities on a regular basis.
5. There is a beauty/barber shop located at the nursing home.
